It seems like no matter how old your kids are, your always concerned about them and their safety, especially when they live away. Tonight, while at church, Daniel called and told us that Elizabeth had gotten in a car accident and totalled her car. Someone ran a stop sign and she "t-boned" her. Of course, we were extremely concerned, immediately praying for her and her safety. We called Daniel later to see how she was and get more details. PTL she is ok, I am sure totally shook-up, but the car is destroyed. Sometimes its hard not to question why God allows things to happen, especially to the most undeserving ones, the ones who just can't seem to "catch a break", the ones who are trying with all they have to follow "His" lead. Yet a bright side to this scenario is that Elizabeth just finished 1/2 of her clinicals and she was driving an hour each way. In a week she will begin her second half just 5 minutes away. They can "make do" without a second car with her working so close to home, and hopefully they can get a bit of money for hers to either buy another one or puts towards one.
Its definitely a challenge to let go of your children, the ones at home and the ones away. As a parent, a mom, you always want the best for them and want to protect them, yet God uses lots of different things to draw us closer, to keep us looking up and to make sure we are fully relying on Him. Is it easy, absolutely not, but its the only way. I have to keep reminding myself of that when I say "goodbye" that God is sovereign, His ways are not mine but they are for our best.
We love you, Elizabeth, and are so thankful you are ok. You touch our lives in so many ways and have blessed us by the love you show to Daniel, his siblings and to Dad and I. May God become more and more alive in your life, and know that somehow you will be able to use this circumstance to touch someone else.

Praise God she is ok. Hopefully she won't be too sore tomorrow. And thank goodness she will be so close to home starting next week.
His ways are certainly not our ways. And beyond our understanding often.
Praying they are experiencing His peace in this part of the journey.

Thankful for her safety! You are right, parenting is the most difficult thing in the world. Our natural reaction is to try and shield our children from any possible bad scenario. I just have to keep in mind the old saying that skillful sailors are not made in still waters.
Like I told you on the phone this afternoon that it meant so much to me the love and concern that you guys have for me and the prayers that you lift up! It was so encouraging to read what you wrote and to hear what is going through your hearts! That means so much to me! Thanks for all you guys are and mean to me! God allowed this for a reason so it's just going to take some waiting and praying to see what He has for us! I am just thankful the other lady is okay and that all I have is a sore/stiff neck! God is so good!
